With the temperature hovering over 40°C in Indore, hospitals in the city have reported a surge in heat-related patients. According to health officials, up to 40% patients in the hospital’s OPD are dehydration and diarrhea cases.
This rise in cases of heat-related illnesses have especially been on the rise since May 10. As a result, health officials have advised residents to keep themselves hydrated and avoid unnecessary exposure to extreme heat.
Tourists also advised to carry home-cooked food on trips
Several tourists travelling to Ujjain and Omkareshwar from Indore have also reported feeling unwell due to excessive heat. Hence, tourists travelling out of Indore have been advised to carry as much home-cooked food as possible and avoid eating junk food.
Reason behind this advisory is the significant number of tourists travelling to the nearby spots who have reported suffering from food poisoning and dehydration.
According to the meteorological department, the relief from this heat is expected from May 30 with the beginning of pre-monsoon activities.
