Bird watchers, alert! Find your binoculars and wear your hats as the annual Birding Fair is back in Jaipur with its 22nd edition and will be held at the Man Sagar Lake on February 7 and 8. The two day event will pitch for the conservation of almost 84 species of wader birds found on the Indian subcontinent.

The fair focuses on wader birds (birds commonly found along the shorelines and ‘wade’ in the sand or mud in order to find food) and people are likely to sight indigenous wader birds such as, three types of cormorants: Great, Little, and Indian (Indian Shag) and Great and Cattle Eagrets and various others like Ruff, Indian Pond Heron, Common Moorehen, Godwits, Black-Winged Stilt, Red-Wattled Lapwing, and various types of Sandpiper.
The fair will also make it possible for people to watch birds in their natural habitat, the indigenous ones and even the rare birds that have migrated such as, the Common Teal duck from Siberia, Grey Gadwall, Eurasian Wigeon, Northern Pintail and Ruddy Shelduck.

The fair is organized by the Tourism and Wildlife Society of India (TWSI), supported by the Jaipur Zoo, World Wildlife Fund (WWF) and various other organizations. This year the fair is much special because the number and types of birds have improved significantly from the past.
The fair is open to all and the visitors will be able to bird watch along the Man Sagar Lake from 9 am to 1 pm on 7th and 8th Feb.
