COVID cases continue to dip in Indore; 892 test positive on February 3

Fresh COVID-19 cases in Indore are on a continuous decline, bringing respite to the district administration, health officials and city dwellers alike. On Thursday, around 892 new infections were reported here, despite the scaled testing and sampling of 9113 people on Wednesday. This effectively caps the case positivity rate below 10% in Indore. Notably, the number of active cases in the district has also come down to 9,619 patients.

As opposed to the 1,011 cases reported in Indore on Wednesday, a sharp drop in fresh cases on Thursday have strengthened recovery trends here. A similar, bettering impact was also observed in the death toll. 3 COVID fatalities were reported here on February 3, down from 6 the day before.

Despite the lowering number of daily positive cases, hospitals have experienced a slight increase in admissions in the last few days. As per reports, the rate of hospitalisation is fluctuating since January 13, ranging between the limits of 1.1-2.2% in Indore. To some respite, very few of them require intensive care or external oxygen support.

Government authorities have instructed all foreign passengers to undergo compulsory screening and Rapid PCR at the airport premises. Following this, two passengers, arriving from Dubai on an Air India flight, were stopped at the Devi Ahilyabai Holkar International Airport on being tested positive on Wednesday night. Both patients are currently under isolation and treatment, added reports.
