Although we’ve been issued several relaxations in the state, it nowhere means that we’ve been successful at dodging the COVID-19 virus. On Thursday itself, Uttar Pradesh has recorded 604 new COVID-19 cases which is the highest single-day count till now and the total number of victims in the state have surged way past 15,000 as of today. Earlier, the highest number of cases in a day was on Wednesday when the state recorded 583 COVID-19 victims.
What’s Happening?
Today, Lucknow’s King George Medical College reported 78 new Covid-19 cases today with patients hailing from Moradabad, Ayodhya, Kannauj, Barabanki, Deoria, Sambhal, Shahjahanpur, Hardoi, Farrukhabad, Balrampur and the city itself. This has now added 100+ corona cases to the city’s list, in the last 2 days.
In the last 72 hours, Lucknow has added around 95 new cases. The total number of positive cases in the city currently stands at 733 while 301 are active cases and 11 deaths are recorded.
Principal Secretary (Health) Amit Mohan Prasad stated, “16,546 tests were done on Wednesday and on an average, over 16,000 tests are being done in Uttar Pradesh every day.” He further added that in the next couple of days, people working in medicine shops, dhabas or involved in home-delivery services will be randomly tested.
