Ahmedabad’s SP Ring Road is set to undergo a Rs 2,100 crore redevelopment aimed at improving traffic management and road safety. The Ahmedabad Urban Development Authority (AUDA) plans to expand the 76 km highway into a six-lane road, featuring dedicated lanes for two-wheelers, three-wheelers, four-wheelers, and heavy vehicles on both sides. This segmentation is expected to streamline traffic flow and significantly enhance commuter safety.
To complement these dedicated lanes, the project will introduce access control measures to ensure smooth and efficient traffic movement. AUDA is also evaluating the integration of metro infrastructure into the redevelopment.
The plan includes widening the main road to six lanes and expanding service roads to three or four lanes, catering to projected traffic growth in the coming years. Additionally, sustainable initiatives, including green measures for an eco-friendly highway, will be incorporated, aligning the project with environmental goals.
