Anahata Retreat at Ashwem beach, Goa is located at almost the sweetest spot on the gorgeous Ashwem beach, it is virtually cut off from the crowded left end of the beach by virtue of the natural rocky terrain, but it is still not far off if you are in the mood to be amongst the fanfare near La Plage.

The name itself is a give away that this place was created with certain sensibilities in mind, Anahata means frictionless & the universe was created frictionless ( told us the owner of the property Rishal Sawhney) and that is the theme of the place with names of the cottages derived from the 4 elements of nature like Paani, Agni, Zameen and Hawa. The aim of the founder is to bring the guests as close to nature as possible, hence they do not have air-conditioned cottages (barring one cottage and the concrete rooms) and open showers. Every cottage is handcrafted to perfection.
Exterior looks rustic yet chic. You are in for a surprise as the interiors here are smart and have almost all the contemporary amenities. The mirror and the lanterns have the antique appeal and add to the primary theme of the place. Beautiful wooden furniture adds the required class to the thatched roof huts.

The in-house restaurant L’Atelier serves modern international cuisine with more impetus on seafood, pizza and Goan delicacies. The fully loaded bar stirs up some of the most amazing cocktails and mocktails made from fresh fruit juices and not the canned ones. Their fresh juice version of Pina colada & Watermelon+Mint Martini were as refreshing as ever. Basil Prawns and the Peri Peri Kingfish are a delight for all seafood enthusiasts. Crispy choco cannelloni is a meal in itself and is a must have for all chocolate lovers.

Stay at Anahata retreat for an almost divine experience. The only downside was the lack of water supply in the toilet (no taps, no hand showers/jets), not much of a concern for foreigners though. The common restrooms near the reception came to our rescue. Oct to mid-March is the ideal time to visit. The super healthy complimentary breakfast on offer is good enough a reason for another visit soon. Must try: Wood Fired Pizzas and Basil Prawns.
