In a collaborative effort, the Directorate of Skill Development (DSDE)- Government of Goa and Goa Institute of Management (GIM) jointly organised a dedicated training session for the staff of Industrial Technical Institute (ITI) in the state. Spanning over a period of four months, this training session was organised at the GIM campus in Sanquelim.
Notably, more than 400 employees across the hierarchies of 10 ITIs, including instructors, non-teaching staff and senior office holders were upskilled under the ambit of this scheme. As per the press release, the module of this skill training program included sessions on pedagogy, health, nutrition, communication, and entrepreneurship, among other critical aspects.

Conceptualised in 2019, the main motive behind this initiative was to further increase the ability of the staff working at ITIs in the coastal state. As per the press release, apart from enhancing their knowledge and skills of teachers, this campaign was designed to sensitise the leaders of these institutes on institutional development.
Moreover, this training was also aimed at developing the positive attitude of the non-teaching staff in the institute. The main idea behind this collaborative effort was to motivate and upskill ITI staff to train and develop students as assets for the industry, said the Minister for Health and Skill Development.

Each group of trainees underwent a two and a half-day training session thereby acquiring a new skill set through the intensive and interactive process at GIM. With specially curated programs for various levels of employees, this skill development program focused on imparting know-how about time management, placement support and forming a better industry connect.
While the instructors were trained to employ innovative and inductive methods of teaching, the non-teaching staff was directed to improve their relationship with colleagues and develop their own life skills. After the session, the trainees were required to put the learnings into practical use at their workplace and provide feedback to the organising committee. In order to receive the feedback, the staffers were recently hosted at the GIM facility at Sanquelim in Goa.
