Prakhar Gupta, a final year BTech student of National Institute of Technology (NIT) Goa has created a placement record for his institute. The placement package of ₹20 lakh per annum from Goldman Sachs, is the highest ever for the institute, which was established in 2010. Earlier, the highest package received by any student from this institute, as recorded by its Placement Cell, was ₹15.9 lakh per annum.
90% of BTech students placed in 2021
While tech students are known to bag higher packages, the figure of ₹20 LPA marks an achievement for NIT Goa for it is still a growing institute. This progress comes as a greater surprise during current times as the world is hit by a pandemic, owing to which the job market is almost stagnant.
Reports quote the Director of NIT Goa stating that though the institute believes in preparing their students for the profession and not for the job, this news has brought a lot of encouragement. He further added that this placement figure is especially significant for a core job in the Indian context, as packages this high are offered mostly abroad.
Detailing out the full placement record for 2021 at NIT Goa, reports state that more than 90 per cent of the BTech batch of 2021 has received offers from top companies like Wipro, TCS, Sapient, JSW and Infosys, among others. Further, 2 PhD scholars have been recruited by C-DAC Pune with a CTC of 9.1 LPA and the highest package offered among Mtech students stands at ₹20 LPA.
