In an attempt to provide a push to eco-tourism, waterfalls across Goa and surrounding areas will now be given a facelift. Facilities such as a registration counter, bio-toilets at every 500 meters, picnic spots and guides to accompany groups, will be added to ensure better experience for the travellers.
Large number of tourists coming to Goa
Apart from sun-drenched beaches, Goa is also home to nineteen, unique waterfalls, including the famous Tambdi Surla Falls which offers an incredible and breathtaking sight. Moreover, besides the perennial waterfalls like Dudhsagar and Harvalem, Goa has a number of seasonal waterfalls, which come alive during the monsoons. Sattari taluka, in North Goa itself has at least ten waterfalls which are seen in full flow only during the monsoon season.
Given the huge number of seasonal tourist sites, Goa has a large number of people dropping in from the length and breath of the country right now. This results in littering, drinking, breaking of glass bottles, hooting and other noisy behaviour. Some waterfalls have also seen drowning deaths as a fallout of this chaos. Consequently, the administration is appointing lifeguards and installing bio-toilets near waterfalls to prevent any unfortunate event.
Additionally, guides and official personnel will be deputed at the falls to keep any unruly behaviour under check.

Furthermore, Vishwajit Pratapsingh Rane, Minister of Town and Country Planning of Goa, took Twitter on Tuesday to announce his plan to give facelift to the waterfalls and wrote “Waterfalls in Goa and surrounding areas to get a facelift.”
