Designer Vaishali S pens history by becoming the first female Indian designer to showcase her collection at the Milan Fashion Week in Italy. Notably, Vaishali S wasn’t ‘t alone, Indian model Avanti Nagrath and content creator Masoom Minawala also created a historical moment by becoming a part of the Milan Fashion Week this year.
While Avanti became the first Indian model to open the show for Versace at this prestigious event, Masoom Minawala became the first-ever Indian creator to walk the runway as a showstopper at the Milan Fashion week.
Showcasing Indian hand weaves on the global stage

After a successful show at the Paris Haute Couture Week (PHCW) in 2021, Designer Vaishali S. showcased her A/W’22 collection, ‘Srauta’ in Italy this year, depicting India’s rich heritage blended with her conceptual design language on the global stage.
Talking about the show, Vaishali said, “showing in Milan takes a designer’s journey to another level of maturity and self-awareness. Not only do you need to be extremely creative, but it is also essential to strike a perfect balance between paying attention to the final customer’s needs and being able to express your creativity through a language that is well understood by international buyers.”
Notably, this show marked the international launch of the designer’s Pret-a-Porter line that brings the spotlight to Indian hand weaves at the top of international luxury through global silhouettes with sustainability and zero waste at its core. With 40 pieces, the collection not only features embroidery but a full-fledged haute couture design and fabric in a brand new pret avatar.

The show was organised at the historic Palazzo Durini, which is full of several well-preserved frescos from past centuries. One of the greatest specimens of seventeenth-century architecture in the city, this iconic monument was commissioned in 1645. At present, this palace serves as the showroom of an acclaimed Italian furniture brand Edra, whose extraordinary pieces acted as the perfect backdrop to Vaishali’s collection.
With a multigenerational experience in crafting the best mansions across the globe with an upscale network of luxury workshops specialised in liveable art, Simone Vago hosted the show attendees by guiding them through this incubator of emotions.
