Amid growing conjecture around the third wave, the Indore district administration has announced that the PC Sethi Hospital and Hukumchand Polyclinic, shall turn into dedicated COVID facilities, if the anticipated event happens. Reportedly, the District Collector examined the services at these centres and instructed concerned authorities to scale up the infrastructure by setting up beds, augmenting oxygen supply and increasing the availability of related equipment.
Nearly 2,000 beds being prepared for children & pregnant women
Reportedly, the official informed that more than 7,000 beds were reserved during the second wave for the treatment of COVID patients. Now, interventions are being worked out to magnify the count of beds, wherein over 2,000 beds will be added to cater to the specific groups of pregnant women and children. As per reports, the target is to increase the number of beds to around 10,000.
Amongst notable developments, Indore is climbing up the path of becoming self-dependent in terms of LMO usage. According to reports, the city now has the capacity of producing more than 60 metric tonners of oxygen with the help of numerous plants set up across its hospitals. Additionally, reports state that over 40 metric tonnes of oxygen can also be procured through oxygen cylinders.
Focused interventions driving the vaccination program in the city
Besides this, the district officials have converged their efforts to accelerate the vaccination program in the city. Through the Maha Vaccination campaign coupled with drive-in and at-home schedules, some remarkable achievements have been logged in the city. With guaranteed adherence to the COVID protocol and amplified coverage of inoculation, Indore is definitely strengthening its guard against the third wave.
