Indore witnessed a soaring rise in the rate of COVID transmission, with the additions of 1,811 new cases on Wednesday. This has pushed the city’s total tally to 1,07,240 and the active caseload to 13,171, worsening the situation here. While recovery surged past the daily infection count on Wednesday with 1,984 discharges, around 10 virus-related deaths were also noted, rooting the pandemic dread. This spilling tally and toll uptick in Indore has raised an alert among the officials and citizens alike, pressing the administration to intensify the COVID aid to repress the second wave rise with these 3 measures.
Liquid Medical Oxygen reached Indore & other districts
A 6-tanker oxygen train arrived in Indore on Wednesday, carrying 119.5 metric tonnes of liquid medical oxygen (LMO) to overcome the paucity of supplies here amid surged demand. Medical-grade oxygen has proven to be life-supporting during this second fatal swing of the coronavirus infection. It is aiding to stabilise oxygen saturation in critical patients, boosting their treatment.
It has been noted that with the arrival of this special oxygen roll-on/roll-off (RoRo) service, the beneficiary 18 MP districts have stocked up oxygen inventories in excess, to meet the heightened demand. According to the PRO Jansampark Office Indore, MP required about 471 metric tonnes of oxygen and has arranged for 540 metric tonnes instead, to ensure adequate supply. As per reports, each tanker of the train is being monitored to ensure the safe passage of the oxygen supply. Besides Indore, 17 other prominent districts including Bhopal, Gwalior, Vidisha among others, are reporting the highest share of state tallies each day.
Home delivery of medical kits to isolated patients
In a bid to augment better treatment of home-isolated coronavirus patients in Indore and other MP districts, the state government is engaged in continually delivering medkits for self-assistance. These parcels, as the name suggests, consist of doses prescribed for COVID treatment, which ensure that all home quarantine patients in self-care, are getting the right medicines, at the right time. Since April 17, the administration has successfully managed to distribute about 1,12,602 medkits across Indore and all other state districts, reportedly.
Police to increase COVID-strictness in Indore
Indore’s police department has decided to employ an iron fist against COVID protocol violators, from Thursday. The law enforcement force will now ensure that people are not needlessly roaming on the city roads and have warned flouters of lathi-charge, in case of an offence. Police officials have stated that the public must check their ways to prevent punitive actions by officials.
To announce this, a flag march was also conducted in Indore on Wednesday evening, under the Superintendents of Police to ensure that people are following pandemic appropriate behaviour in public spaces. Those found without a face mask or breaking the norms of social distancing were also tackled by the police, read reports.
