Rajasthan bags 1st position in Smart City Mission rankings, Jaipur at the 28th spot!

Out of the 100 best cities, Udaipur, Kota, Ajmer and Jaipur bagged 5th, 10th, 22nd and 28th positions, respectively.

Winning acclaim for its comprehensive efforts, Rajasthan secured the first spot in an online ranking of 36 states and union territories, on the basis of projects under the Smart City Mission. Amid the list of 100 best cities, Udaipur, Kota, Ajmer and Jaipur bagged the 5th, 10th, 22nd and 28th positions, respectively. Releasing the new rank list on Thursday, the central government recognised the works of various state and local administrations to upgrade their overall infrastructure.

Strict monitoring helps Rajasthan to achieve the feat!

While the state was placed at the second spot previously, it climbed up a notch higher in the evaluation of 36 states and union territories this year. As per reports, the strict monitoring of schemes under the Smart City Mission helped the state to score more points compared to Andhra Pradesh and Gujarat.

Reportedly, the central government assesses the states based on the number of completed and ongoing projects and the amount of expenditure. Besides, the utilisation of funds given by the central administration is also taken into account.

Widespread schemes to guarantee assured benefits to the citizens

As a part of the multiple initiatives by the authorities, streamlined interventions have been initiated to amplify the resources, assure sufficient availability of water and increase awareness amongst other things. Reportedly, the authorities ensured a sufficient supply of resources for meeting the needs and requirements of labourers and daily wagers. Remarkably, this helped in halting the return of migrant workers and reduced the effects of the crisis.

Jaipur transforming into a hub of futuristic advancements

Though Jaipur carries immense potential to improve its rank, it is important to acknowledge the wide range of projects operational in the city. Amidst a string of developments being witnessed in Jaipur, the establishment of a digital library in the Rajasthan Vidhan Sabha, deployment of smart equipment for waste management, renovation of temples and educational institutions, are some of the most prominent ones. Besides, the authorities have also initiated interventions for heritage walkways, enhanced parking spaces and ameliorated stadiums.
