The Uttar Pradesh govt has permitted to open liquor shops in Lucknow from 10 AM to 7 PM today. All walk-in-stores including Madira in SRS Mall and other model shops across the city will operate under the norms of the established SOPs in wake of the present-day situation. Tipples are requested to follow all Covid related norms. Social distancing and double masking will help to stop the spread.
The Lucknow Liquor Sellers’ Welfare Association has welcomed the state’s decision as it believes that liquor sales now will help to cover losses incurred during the lockdown.
Excise department to raid and raze illicit shops in Lucknow
After persistent requests of liquor sellers who were suffering at the cost of the shutdown, the state has allowed reopening booze shops in Lucknow and a few other districts in Uttar Pradesh. Liquor is a brisk business in the country’s most populous state and its closure has led to losses of up to 100 crores per day for the state. Thus, in an attempt to make up for these losses, all liquor shops are allowed to open in Lucknow and other listed districts, bound by strict adherence to the COVID-10 norms.
Meanwhile, the Excise Department along with the local police has also been tasked to raid illicit liquor shops and ensure maximum safety of the customers. Subsequently, people can always opt for bigger walk-in stores such as Madira at City Mall in Lucknow, to satiate their booze hankerings. The store not only permits people to keep a safe distance but also offers an expansive range of premium and quality alcohol. People can also avoid standing in long queues when they visit stores like so.
People are requested to follow COVID appropriate behaviour when stepping out and double mask the proper way, as a caution against the infection. Other norms of social distancing must also be adhered to, with strictness.
