Lucknow recorded 152 new coronavirus cases on Tuesday, which has taken the tally of active cases to 1591. With these statistics, the city has reported maximum number of cases in Uttar Pradesh for the 5th consecutive day. The total caseload of the city stands at around 2730, which is the third highest in the state after Gautam Buddha Nagar and Ghaziabad.
Neither slow nor steady, virus attacks Lucknow
Lucknow’s Ambulance call centre, 102 has been pinned as one of the biggest hotspots in the city. 11 more staff members have tested positive for the infection and this singular source is now responsible for about 124 coronavirus cases in the city.
7 out of the 152 new people who have tested positive for the virus, are medical health professionals at KGMU. The increasing number of cases amongst the health care professionals is weakening the city’s defence against the virus. Over 40 health personals have tested positive in Lucknow’s King George’s Medical University and around 91 from the other hospitals of the city. While the administration has sanitised the Coronavirus ward in the hospital, an 18 member team of doctors, nurses, paramedics and senior hospital faculty have been home quarantined.

With this rapid increase, 2 more areas in the city have been identified as containment zones by the local governing authorities. Both the containment zones were residential facilities for the staff of the University of Lucknow and were turned into coronavirus isolation facilities as one of the employees of the LU tested Covid positive.
While 1103 people have successfully recovered from the deadly virus, the recovery rate is around 40% in the city. 36 people in Lucknow, however, have succumbed to it.
