Notching up the celebrations of the ‘Azadi ka Amrit Mahotsav’, the National Cadet Corps (NCC) is conducting ‘Azadi ki Vijay Shrankhla aur Sanskritiyon ka Mahasangam’ to honour the brave-hearts of the 1971 Indo-Pak war. On Monday, the NCC group headquarters at Lucknow organised a felicitation ceremony for the war widows of the historic battle at Malviya Hall of Lucknow University. Notably, this mega tribute launched by the NCC on November 28 spans over 75 locations across India and will conclude by December 10.
Paying homage to the Bravehearts of 1971 War
The NCC cadets of 63 UP NCC Battalion gave a guard of honour to the slain heroes of the 1971 War. Along with other guests, the three war widows from Lucknow started off the event by lighting the lamp. The widows, namely Manju Mishra, wife of craftsman Pashupati Narayan Mishra, Chandra Devi wife of Naik Raja Singh and Lila Devi wife of Sowar Jit Singh, were presented with a shawl and gifts as well
As homage to the war heroes who sacrificed their lives for the country in 1971, the three war widows were honoured by the District Magistrate Abhishek Prakash at the event. Apart from this, a host of cultural programs including dance, skit and music were also staged by the cadets at the felicitation ceremony.
Besides the DM, Brig. Ravi Kapoor, the group commander of NCC group headquarters along with Col. Sumeet Puri, the commanding officer of 63 UP NCC Battalion also graced this event at LU.
