Bringing a sigh of relief for around one lakh daily commuters in the city, the state PWD authorities have proposed the construction of a flyover at Bharwara Crossing in Gomti Nagar, Lucknow. While this new project is supposed to benefit city dwellers heading to Gomti Nagar Extension, advantages shall also accrue for the residents of Durgapur Colony, Hasemau, Laulai, Maghav Green and other areas in the surrounding.
Plans & budget drafts for the project in pipeline
As per sources, around 30 to 45 trains cross this railway intersection every day. Given the repeated passage of trains, the crossing remains closed for long periods of time which leads to the accumulation of huge traffic on either side. Considering the problems of the travelers, the authorities have planned the establishment of the new flyover.
Speaking to Knocksense, Awadhesh Kumar Singh, Executive Engineer at the State Public Works Department said, ” UPPWD had collaborated with Railways and Bridge Corporation to conduct an inspection at the site in December 2019. During the survey, it was observed that the commuters were affected by the traffic jams at the Bharwara crossing. Recently, the three departments conducted an assessment again, where it was decided to propose the construction of the flyover. While plan and budget proposal for the project shall be drafted soon, it will only be initiated after the government approves and issues relevant directives.”
Authorities working on various terms & conditions related to the project
The engineer further informed that the heavily populated region is cluttered with multiple houses. During the execution of the project, some of these would have to be removed. Given that this matter is related to land acquisition, suitable compensations will have to be offered to the respective house-owners. Taking a view of these points, the PWD is deliberating on the various terms and conditions that need to be incorporated into the project. It is noteworthy that the geographical aspects of the location are being jointly analysed by the PWD and the Railway Department.
If the overall welfare of a city has to be assured, such sound interventions are expected to be implemented repeatedly based on the requirements of the time. Given the present needs, the authorities are ensuring hastened implementation of the plans so that the citizens are benefitted as soon as possible.
