The Uttar Pradesh Health Department will now appoint a nodal officer in each COVID care hospital across the state. As per reports, the CM has directed designated officials to keep a strict vigil in districts like Lucknow, Kanpur, Prayagraj, Varanasi, Ghaziabad and Gautam Buddha Nagar and assign a nodal officer to implement a systematic approach. Besides this, he has also said that Lucknow hospitals, such as SGPGI, Medical University & Ram Manohar Lohia Hospital, will increase the beds in order to cater to the increased COVID load.
UP ensures adequate hospital arrangements for COVID positive patients
Uttar Pradesh recorded as many as 4,136 cases in the past 24 hours which has alerted the state administration to build guards against the COVID spread. As a result, nodal officers will be appointed at all COVID care centres and facilities to ensure that the infected people get quality treatment and the hospitals have adequate arrangements.
Both government and private hospitals will be looked after by nodal authorities now, the Additional Chief Secretary of Health informed. “The officers will also address complaints, if any, of the people admitted in these hospitals,” he said.
In view of the ongoing Panchayat elections, the Chief Minister also directed the officials to constitute ‘nigrani samitis‘ at the level of every Gram Panchayat and Municipal ward. For this, members of the Yuvak Mangal Dal, ‘chowkidars’, civil defence and NGOs will be engaged. Strict action will be taken in case of any callousness or laxity, he also warned.
Efforts to boost COVID-19 vaccination in UP
On the occasion of World Health Day on April 7, the state government will felicitate four to eight people with gifts, in all districts, who have been administered both doses of vaccine. These beneficiaries will be selected through a lottery with the help of a serial number of vaccination cards given to those vaccinated.
The Additional Chief Secretary also informed that the government will ensure strict implementation of Covid safety protocols, including demarcating containment zones and further detailed about the containment zone area mapping. In the case of a single infection, the containment zone would be of 25 metres radius, while in the case of a cluster (more than one case), the containment zone would cover 50 metres radius.
