Continuous overnight rainfall brought Mumbai to a near halt on Monday morning, submerging several low-lying areas and severely affecting transport. The Andheri subway was shut due to flooding, with visuals showing it completely submerged as local trains passed overhead. Commuters were also seen wading through waterlogged streets, particularly in Andheri and nearby areas.

Social media has been flooded with images of submerged streets, with residents criticising Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) for poor infrastructure and drainage. Many have voiced their frustration over repeated flooding every monsoon season.
IMD issues Orange Alert
India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued an Orange Alert for Mumbai and Raigad, warning of extremely heavy rainfall. A Yellow Alert remains in effect for Thane and Palghar. Intermittent downpours are expected across the Konkan region over the next 24 hours.
Airlines urge caution amid delays
Flight operations at Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj International Airport (CSMIA) were impacted by the water-logging. Further, IndiGo and SpiceJet issued advisories, requesting passengers to check their flight status and allow additional travel time. The Andheri subway closure further disrupted airport access.
