Mumbai Traffic police bans two-wheelers, three-wheelers & heavy vehicles on BKC-Chunabatti Connector

Driving towards fast and free-flowing traffic, the Mumbai Traffic Police on Monday announced the BKC-Chunabatti Connector permanently closed for two, three and heavy vehicles. As per reports, the movement of trucks, trailers, bikes, scooters and auto-rickshaws and other such vehicles has been completely banned on both sides of the bridge. However, buses will be permitted to ply across to ensure easy travel.

Easing traffic woes, Mumbai's Eastern Freeway to be extended from Chembur to Thane

In an attempt to improve the traffic bottlenecks, the Mumbai Metropolitan Regional Development Authority (MMRDA) has decided to extend the Eastern Freeway from Chembur to Thane. At present, this 17-kilometre freeway connects P D'Mello Road in South Mumbai to the Eastern Express Highway at Chembur. The official decision regarding this expansion was taken in a board meeting headed by the Urban Development Minister of Maharashtra.

Christmas comes early for Mumbai as BEST plans to launch HO-HO bus services for tourists

In a bid to boost tourism in the city, BEST on Wednesday announced its decision to launch a special fleet of 10 'Ho-Ho' buses in Mumbai soon. Reportedly, the buses were shown a green by the BEST Committee on Tuesday after the clearance of a long-pending proposal, positioning their launch just in time for the festive season. Labelled as the Hop on-Hop off services, these buses will primarily cater to travellers and tourists, enabling a premium yet economic means of travel for them.

MMRDA plans to extend the Eastern Freeway in Mumbai with an elevated road project

As part of the Mumbai Metropolitan Region Development Authority (MMRDA) plans, the Eastern Freeway will be extended via elevated roads from the Shivaji Nagar end to the Ghatkopar signal. The elevated roads will traverse Kamraj Nagar and Ramabai Colony. A former plan called for extending Shivaji Nagar Road until Ghatkopar, but it was postponed because it would have destroyed mangroves. However, the project will now resume.

Mumbai's Sion Flyover to remain shut on weekends till January 9, 2022 due to repair work

The Mumbai Traffic Police on Friday announced that the Sion flyover will remain closed every weekend, for the next three months, due to the repair work undertaken by the Maharashtra State Roads Development Corporation (MSRDC). The vehicle shutdown here will be clocked from 10 PM on Saturday to 6 AM on Monday, till January 9, 2022. Several route diversions have been put in place by the city traffic police department to allow an unhindered automobile movement during the closure, added reports. Check all alternate track here:
