The ’National Scout and Guide Jamboree’ is a gathering conducted once every four years. The purpose of this event is to provide a platform to the scouts and guides from India and abroad, and present them an opportunity to interact with each other.
The 18th National Jamboree will be organised from January 4 to 10, 2023 at Rohat in Rajasthan’s Pali district. The state government has announced a ₹25 crore budget for the national event.
What to expect of the 18th National Jamboree
The 18th National Jamboree will give young scouts a platform to share their customs, food habits, handicrafts, and religious practices with one another. What’s interesting is that they’ll live in tents for a week and participate in various exciting activities.
Competitions like pioneering projects, adventure valley, global village development, march past, colour party, folk dances, state day exhibition, band performances, rock climbing and parasailing will be organised during the seven-day event.
According to officials, around 35,000 scouts, guides and adult leaders from renowned organisations from India, including 1,500 from various international and SAARC countries have already confirmed their participation in the mega event.
History of the National Scout and Guide Jamboree
The first all India Jamboree, after independence was held in Secunderabad, Andhra Pradesh, in 1953. So far, India has hosted seventeen such events in the country. The last i.e the 17th National Jamboree, housing nearly 30,000 students and trainers from across the country, was held in 2017.
And now, in 2022, Bharat Scouts and Guides has got the opportunity to host the prestigious 18th National Jamboree with a theme of ’Progress with Peace’ in Rajasthan.
