After clinching the title of “India’s cleanest city” for six years on the trot, Indore is gradually shaping up to become India’s next IT hub. Of late, the city has become a hotbed for startups, with hundreds of them springing up with their unique solutions and unfettered ambition.
In the recently concluded Global Investors’ Summit held in the city, a whopping 5,000 industrialists were seen participating, with 70 of them belonging from the biggest business houses in India and overseas. A slew of reasons have piqued the interest of both domestic and international investors in the city, making it a thriving hub for the Information Technology sector.
Facilitating round-the-clock working to enable IT companies and startups
Primarily, Indore has set an example when it comes to cleanliness and suitable working conditions that can match the expectations of the world’s most prominent companies. Furthermore, the city’s plans to facilitate 24×7 working in certain areas like the Bus Rapid Transit Systems (BRTS) corridors is also likely to boost investment in a variety of sectors, especially IT.
By cutting the red tape and allowing for quick and hassle-free investments and setting up of industries, the city has been able to attract major IT companies like Infosys and TCS.
After all, the state of Madhya Pradesh has invested Rs 2,373 crore to complete its “Ease of Doing Business” reforms and companies planning to move into Indore have benefitted from the resulting easy procedures.
Booming infrastructure, receding red tape
Enhanced connectivity and Indore’s booming infrastructure further add to the seemingly never-ending list of reasons why the city could become India’s next IT hub. If the city continues to take similar steps in the coming years, it might go on to trump the likes of Hyderabad and Bengaluru to take its place as India’s next IT hub.
Apart from the IT sector, some of the biggest players on the Indian business scene including Tata International, Adani Agro Oil and Reliance Industries are also planning to expand their presence in Indore.
