The Industrial hub of Madhya Pradesh, Indore has been witnessing a rapid increase in the number of coronavirus cases. About 120 people tested positive for the virus infection on Sunday, taking the total tally of the city around 6155 cases.

The rapid rise in the number of infections in the last 10 days of the city is the primary cause of concern for local administration and medical and health officials in Indore. As many as 1000 cases have been reported since July 8 in the city, marking it as the worst hit district in Madhya Pradesh.

The fatality count of Indore has also added to the worries of the its local authorities and citizens alike. With 4 people succumbing to the virus on Sunday, the death toll of the city reached around 292. This figure has contributed in a high mortality rate of 4.8%, higher than the state average at 3.2% and the national average at 2.5%. With 4,238 recoveries in the city, Indore is upgrading its medical competence as well.
In an attempt to arrest the growth of virus and spread of infection, the district administration has added about 8 more containment zones to the list, taking their number to 32 in the city. Though new cases have been identified in 15 new areas in Indore, they will be converted into containment zones if more people are tested positive here; areas having more than 15 cases are converted into containment zones.
Right now, all we need to do is comply with the guidelines issued by the local authorities in the containment zones. Following all safety norms and undertaking precautions is of utmost importance at this point!
