Ushering in a sigh of relief for the residents of Kanpur, is the dip in the number of covid positive cases across the city. Now that this number has fallen below 600, with 588 active cases reported on 30th May, the state government has announced a phased lockdown from 1st June onwards. Apart from schools, cinema halls, shopping malls, swimming pools and clubs, other establishments will now be functional once again from Monday to Friday and from 7 AM to 7 PM. A detailed report regarding the rules and regulations of this phased unlock are mentioned below.
Establishments of public utility to open from 7 AM to 7 PM
Apart from schools, cinema halls, shopping malls, swimming pools and clubs, other establishments will now be open from Monday to Friday and from 7 AM to 7 PM. All vegetable markets will be open but those located in densely populated areas have been ordered to move to open spaces to thwart the spread of the virus.
However, the shops and religious places located in the cantonment area will observe corona curfew and weekend lockdown will continue in other parts of the city. During the weekend lockdown, the cause of cleanliness and sanitisation of public places shall be championed by the designated workforce.
Regulating the footfall in public places & occasions
As per the new directives, all industrial units can now begin production and workers will be allowed movement if they possess valid identity cards. For weddings, the guest list has been capped at 25 and the attendees at a funeral procession cannot be more than 20. Further, religious places can open their doors to devotees but at any given time, only a maximum of 5 people can be within the premises.
Offices to resume at half capacity
Those government offices which cater to the frontline workforce will work at full capacity, while others shall function with 50% of their workforce. Similarly, private companies can open their offices at half capacity if they can ensure that covid protocols are being duly followed. However, it has been recommended that private companies should encourage ‘work from home’. Every office has been directed to establish a covid help desk to ensure safety at the workplace.
Restaurants closed but home delivery allowed
Not more than 4 passengers are allowed to sit together in a car. In an auto-rickshaw, only 2 passengers are allowed other than the driver and in e-rickshaws, a total of 4 people can sit, including the driver.
While the restaurants will remain closed, home delivery service will still be functional. The eateries located near highways and expressways have been permitted to open their shutters for travelers but they have to ensure that all covid protocols are being followed.
