Accelerating the infrastructural development in the city, Kanpur is all set to get its second smart road under the ambit of Smart City Project. The road from Parade Square to Green Park Square will be revamped on a cricket theme by Kanpur Smart City Limited. Notably, the 2.34 kilometre long road from Phoolbagh to Narauna intersection was the first road to be developed as a smart road in the city.
Deadline of June 2022 marked for project completion
Expected to be one of the most expensive projects in the city, the facelift of this 1.6-kilometre-long road is estimated to cost around ₹30 crore. Starting from Parade Square, the road leads to Green Park Square via D C College, Huddard Chauraha and KESCO Office. In line with the theme of the upcoming Smart Road, images of bat, ball, wickets and even players will be painted on the walls of the footpath. According to the officials, this project is likely to be completed by June 2022.
Smart Road to have bus stop & green toilet among other facilities
Apart from ensuring smoother vehicular movement, Smart Road will be equipped with pedestrian path, sitting areas, information boards and signage, among others. Apart from beautification of footpath and installation of streetlights, special measure will also be taken to put an end to the the rampant encroachment along the way. Among other facilities, the upcoming smart road will house a bus stop, green toilet, parking and traffic booth as well. With the approval of this project, Kanpur is on its way to bid farewell to the traffic woes plaguing this route at present.
