Cricket fever is set to peak this weekend as the IPL 2026 final between Royal Challengers Bengaluru and Gujarat Titans takes place at the Narendra Modi Stadium on May 31. Anticipating a surge in passenger demand, Western Railway has introduced four special train services between Mumbai and Ahmedabad to help fans travel for the season’s biggest match.
Special AC Train for match day
One of the key services is a special AC Superfast train that will operate between Mumbai Central and Ahmedabad tomorrow.
- Train No. 09021 will depart Mumbai Central at 6:20 am and arrive in Ahmedabad at 12:40 pm, allowing fans to reach the city ahead of the evening match.
- For the return journey, Train No. 09022 will leave Ahmedabad at 3:10 pm and reach Mumbai Central at 9:45 pm on the same day.
These trains will run with a premium Shatabdi-style rake featuring an Executive Chair Car, AC Chair Car, Anubhuti Class and a Vistadome coach.
Extra services planned after the final
To manage the expected rush once the match concludes, Western Railway has also scheduled two trains for June 1.
- Train No. 09044 will run from Ahmedabad to Bandra Terminus
- Train No. 09043 will operate between Bandra Terminus and Vatva.
These services will feature AC three-tier and Sleeper Class coaches, providing economical travel options for passengers returning after the final. Further, the trains will stop at Borivali, Vapi, Surat, Bharuch and Vadodara.
Bookings open today
Reservations for all four special train services will open on May 30. Passengers can book tickets through PRS reservation counters as well as the official IRCTC platform. With thousands of cricket fans expected to travel to Ahmedabad for the IPL final weekend, railway authorities have advised passengers to check train schedules and coach details before finalising their plans.
