SBR to get city square, inspired by Times Square
Sindhu Bhavan Road in Ahmedabad is set to become home to the country’s tallest structure, modelled after New York’s iconic Times Square. Standing at 175 meters, the structure will feature a two-floor restaurant situated 40 meters above ground, accommodating around 900 guests.
At the 175-meter mark, the tower will offer a sky deck and skywalk experience. The area will also include landscaped gardens, food courts, seating spaces, water features, and other modern urban plaza amenities.
Ahmedabad police and NGOs launch helmet distribution drive
To promote helmet safety, the Ahmedabad police, in collaboration with local NGOs, will distribute 700 helmets free of cost to two-wheeler riders found without helmets. The initiative, starting Monday, aims to increase awareness and provide a practical solution for individuals who may not be able to afford protective headgear.
Adani Group introduces green hydrogen in Ahmedabad’s piped gas supply
Adani Group has begun blending green hydrogen in Ahmedabad, aiming to reduce emissions and achieve its net-zero goals. The eco-friendly hydrogen is now being mixed with natural gas and delivered to households for cooking.
On LinkedIn, Adani Total Gas Ltd, the group’s city gas venture in partnership with French energy company TotalEnergies, announced that it has started integrating 2.2-2.3% of green hydrogen into the piped natural gas supply for residents in Shantigram, Ahmedabad.
New overbridge at Chharodi junction on Sarkhej-Gandhinagar Highway
A new 750-meter-long overbridge will be built at the Chharodi junction on the Sarkhej-Gandhinagar highway, with an investment of ₹62 crores. Once completed, the bridge will reduce travel time between Sarkhej and Gandhinagar to just 25 minutes, benefitting around 2 lakh motorists by saving approximately 10 minutes daily. The bridge is expected to be operational by 2025. During construction, traffic will be diverted to the service roads.
Additionally, the existing four-lane overbridge on the Narmada Canal between Ahmedabad and Gandhinagar will be expanded to eight lanes.
