British rock band Coldplay’s two-night ‘Music of the Spheres’ spectacle in Ahmedabad generated a staggering ₹641 crore economic impact, including ₹392 crore in direct local spending, revealed an EY-Parthenon report. The January concerts at Narendra Modi Stadium drew 2.22 lakh fans, with 86% traveling from 28 states/UTs, boosting hotels, airlines, and retail.
According to the EY-Parthenon report, hotel prices spiked 3–6 times and airfares rose 3–4 times after the concert announcement. Alongside a major boost to Ahmedabad’s local economy, the event generated ₹72 crore in GST revenue, underscoring its economic impact. The report also emphasised the rapid rise of India’s concert economy, with live events playing a key role in driving cultural tourism and enhancing city branding.
