The Chief Minister of Rajasthan launched the Jaipur Saras National Craft Mela, in an online event on Wednesday. Slated to be held for around two weeks, the fair at Ramlila Maidan shall conclude on March 21. A hub for myriad artists and craftsmen involved in a variety of professions, this fair presents an interesting array of crafts ranging from terracotta products and flower-based herbal gulaal to an enticing collection of pottery, amongst many other things!

This innovative market shall motivate rural artists and entrepreneurs for devising new and inventive crafts. Accumulating products from different parts of the country, the stalls dealing in jute and clothes are witnessing maximum crowds here. As per reports, 300 groups from 22 different states of the country have set up 150 stalls at the national fair.
Being executed by the Rajasthan Rural Livelihood Council and the Union Ministry of Rural Development, this festival of local products brings prospects of a better future for rural manufacturers. Also, this platform shall help the products in garnering national and international recognition.

Through such initiatives, the state attempts to boost the market of natively produced goods crafted by local artisans. Additionally, it is interventions like these that are highly conducive towards strengthing women through economic empowerment. In this direction, Rajasthan has already witnessed the successful addition of over 23 lakh women in more than 2 lakh self-help groups across the state. At the event, the CM remarked that the self-help groups have been beneficial to ensure that women are self-reliant and self-sufficient.
