A well-balanced and hygienically prepared meal is what many people dream of and amid this pandemic, getting even one meal throughout the day has become a far-fetched dream for many individuals. This is especially true for people who are suffering from COVID-19 in isolation with no one around for help and the underprivileged sections of society with parched income.
Coming to the rescue of such people, Jaipur-based Abhyutthanam Society has taken up the task of providing them with proper food. Established in 2014 as an NGO advocating for the ‘Right to Education’, this society has been providing free meals to COVID patients, their kins and the economically deprived residents in the city.
Initiative in partnership with Swiggy
Till now, Abhyutthanam Society had been providing free food to recovering patients with the help of the residents of Jaipur. However, recently the body entered into a partnership with Swiggy, for the safe delivery of food packets across the city.
Initially, the delivery process faced restrictions as it depended on the availability of volunteers, now owing to this partnership with Swiggy, this philanthropic deed is easily reaching every corner of the region.
Apart from this, Abhyutthanam Society is also distributing free meals among the underprivileged of the city. Initially, their efforts were catering to around 100 people on a daily basis, however, more than a month into this initiative, the number of people benefitting from this initiative has gone up to 450.
Knock Knock
The channelling of resources by the Abhyutthanam Society for a good cause during these testing times has been appreciated by everyone, especially the beneficiaries. Their effort to provide food for the needy is actuated by Swami Vivekanand’s saying- “It is a privilege to serve mankind, for this is the worship of God. God is here, in all these human souls.”
