Jaipur Literature Festival, one of the most highly anticipated events of the year began yesterday and it’s the perfect place for you to let put the bookworm in you. The fest packs a punch as it is not only a great place to get up to speed with latest books, but to catch up with the literati- the authors, publishers, thinkers and speakers. The festival, which began yesterday, January 24, deemed ‘the greatest literary show on Earth’ is more than what you would expect from a literature fest. It packs in cultural performances complete with dances and musical events, a variety of food stalls from around the country.
The main draw of the literature fest comes from the speakers, thinkers and authors who take the stage to express their opinions on pressing social issues, talking about the hidden layer of meanings in their books and a variety of other topics that make the mind gears churn.

The first day of the literature festival kicked off the event with a bang as they had great events lined up from 9:15AM in the morning to 6:15PM in the evening. Throughout the day, the events packed in a musical session, the inaugural note- which entailed poetry reading and a key note by Nobel Laureate, Sri Venki Ramakrishnan. The inauguration also saw the launch of the book ‘26/11 Stories of Strength’ by The Indian Express.
Today, on the second day of the event, they have interesting and interactive events for the visitors to partake in. The second day has more than 35 events lined up, complete with book readings, debates, musical shows, book launches and even competitions. The highlights are the talks by Jerry Pinto, a talk about ‘writing on writing’, delving deep into the worlds of fiction and speaking about where it comes from and much more.You can check out the full programme here.
