After the successful completion of a five-phased trial, a long-term traffic diversion plan for Kanpur’s Bada Chauraha has also been rolled out now. As per reports, the new framework will be functional for a period of two years. This plan has been executed for the construction of an underground metro station at Bada Chauraha, under the second phase of the Kanpur Metro Project.

Reportedly, Traffic Police officials, officers from local police stations and marshalls deployed by UPMRC will be stationed on the new routes. They would ensure an easy and streamlined flow of the traffic on the roads included in the diversion plan. According to the new road map, vehicles will have to pass through Chetna Chauraha and Meghdoot Tiraha, on their way from Bada Chauraha to Phoolbagh. As per reports, the road in front of the mall that leads to Phoolbagh has been blocked.
Heavy vehicles not permitted on the Collectorate Road

Further, heavy vehicles will not be permitted to take the Collectorate Road between Meghdoot Tiraha and Chetna Chauraha. These vehicles will be directed towards VIP road and they will pass through Sarsaiyya Ghat. With the execution of this measure, the authorities have allowed only light vehicles on this road, which includes two-wheelers and e-rickshaws.
While the authorities have buckled up efforts for the first phase of Kanpur Metro, plans have now been accelerated for the second phase too. Once the preliminary work for decongesting the land is complete, UPMRC will roll out the on-ground interventions.
