Augmenting women-centric facilities in the state, the authorities have decided to reserve separate parking spaces for women in Lucknow and other districts of Uttar Pradesh. Being established under the ongoing Mission Shakti initiative, the special parking facilities will enhance the safety and security of the females. Further, a string of other interventions will also be executed under the current phase of Mission Shakti, in a move to propel women’s welfare in the state.
Parts of open-air gyms to be reserved for women
Moving ahead with the plans, the Directorate of Local Bodies has sent relevant orders to the bodies across the state. The civic bodies will reserve space for women at the parking places operated in urban areas near the entrance of establishments. According to officials, this project is a part of a large-scale program to strengthen women’s empowerment in the state.
While the Mission Shakti is currently active in its 3rd phase, the recent directives indicate that a special campaign will be functional till December. Under the scheme, some areas and equipment of open-air gyms will be reserved by the civic body for females, in a bid to motivate them towards health and fitness.
Women to be apprised about correct waste management techniques
Additionally, housewives and other women will be informed about the correct methods of waste management. As a part of this, they will learn about waste segregation and the conversion of waste into naturally useful compost. They will be equipped with knowledge related to different measures of composting and the prepared compost will be used in gardening and horticultural activities.
Besides, the officials will motivate women to cooperate in the door-to-door collection of segregated waste. They will also be asked to suggest alternatives for plastic and take part in the state’s fight against pollution.
Women to be made self-reliant across a range of fields
Through extensive programs, women will be encouraged to conserve water, highlighting their role as potential environmental warriors. Additionally, women will be apprised about sewing products, handicraft, animal husbandry, bee keeping, poultry, fish farming, cooking amongst other things.
Further, females will be informed about property rights and adolescent girls will be made aware of personal hygiene through focused drives. In addition to this, special medical camps will also be arranged for women. Given the long list of plans, it can be expected that the administration aims to fuel women’s development in a range of fields.
