In a bid to streamline vehicular movements in the city, a new Traffic Brigade (TBR) will be deployed at major intersections and crowded areas of Lucknow. New individuals will be hired for this purpose, whose task will be to enhance the governance of the traffic conditions. Interested youths will be employed under this initiative and thus, the move does not only focus on improving the traffic in the city but also comes as an employment opportunity for those in need.
Traffic Brigade to take up the responsibilities of Traffic Police

It has been informed that the Traffic Brigade officials will be trained on the same lines, as the Traffic Police and they would act as a substitute in case of the latter is not present. The new brigade will also have a dress code, that includes a white shirt and blue pants. This task force will take up similar responsibilities like the Traffic Police but they will not be authorised to check vehicles or fine the commuters.
With this move, the lack of Traffic Police personnel will not destabilise the traffic circumstances in the city. Further, TBR officials will be deployed at intersections if there is no traffic controller. With this initiative, the authorities attempt to serve two-fold purposes of reducing unemployment and upgrading traffic management in the city.
TBR officials to provide support at marriage lawns, hotels & public events

Together with the Traffic Police personnel, the Traffic Brigade will maintain an alert watch over the traffic situation in the city. The new officials will control the vehicular movements and work out measures for dissolving the jams. The Additional Deputy Commissioner of Police informed that ample arrangements are being made to roll out the plans under this scheme. Notably, no funds will be received from the government and the department for this project.
Employed on a contract basis, the individuals of Traffic Brigade will also be stationed at marriage lawns, hotels and public events upon demand. In this case, the organisers will have to pay one to two days’ salary of the officials. Besides, they will also help in resolving the traffic issues in sensitive areas in the city.

While the administration is implementing a list of measures to mitigate accidents and ease vehicular flow on the roads, it is also important that citizens ensure active and agile behaviour while commuting. Citizens must follow the traffic rules strictly, to reduce the possibility of accidents significantly.
