On Tuesday, the UP government announced that they would put an end to the ongoing statewide weekend lockdown. Saturday was excluded from the lockdown, quiet recently in the state and now the decision to exclude Sunday has also come in.
Officials to educate people about COVID-19 pandemic
The decision to completely do away with weekend lockdowns comes after a meeting of government officials, wherein it was decided that malls, restaurants and other places of interest would remain open even during the weekends. In the same meeting, it has also been decided that officials will educate people about the virus and ensure that all precautions are taken.
Another aim of doing away with the Sunday lockdown is to once again generate employment, especially for those who lost their jobs during the drastic turn of events that the world undertook. These rules will not apply to contamination zones, which means that they will be heavily isolated and concealed with precaution.
As of now, all the public places that have been opened are being sanitized and kept under watch, to ensure that the spread of the virus is kept to a minimum. Even with the backing of that, the number of COVID-19 cases is on the rise. Only yesterday, Uttar Pradesh recorded a new high of over 6,500 cases in a single day.
