The Central Government began testing its ’emergency alert system’ on Tuesday, October 10. As part of the tests, both iOS and Android users received a sudden alert message on their devices, accompanied by a flash and a loud beep.
The alert came along with the words ’emergency alert: extreme’. Furthermore, the alert was sent once each in Hindi and English, only a few minutes apart. It is noteworthy that this was a testing exercise and there is no need for panic, just as the alert message read.
