Amid the ongoing vaccination drive against measles in Indore, the city has reported 11 new cases, taking the total tally to 31 on Thursday, Feb 23. The infection, which authorities believed to be concentrated to a select few areas, seemed to have moved on to other localities including Bombay Nagar, Janki Nagar, Juna Risala and Madina Nagar.
Door-to-Door survey found 400 unvaccinated kids
During the survey conducted by the authorities in and around the severely affected areas, a total of 400 kids were found unvaccinated, 375 out of which were promptly administered vaccine against measles. Furthermore, around 800 kids in these areas were also given Vitamin A supplements, that are meant to boost their immunity.
In view of the measles outbreak gradually seeping into new areas, authorities have also launched a fresh survey to make sure that the outbreak doesn’t keep worsening in the coming days. On the brighter side, though, no further cases of rubella have yet been found in the city, with the tally still fixed at 1.
