According to the directives of the Chief Minister of Madhya Pradesh, schools reopened their premises for elementary classes at a 50% capacity from Monday, September 20 after around 18 months. However, schools in Indore for classes 1-5, have not reopened yet. As per the recent updates, the resumption of elementary classes(offline mode) in private schools in Indore, will take place in October.

Classes in different parts of MP were resumed with a 50% capacity on the first day of school, after acquiring written permission from parents to attend offline lectures, as per the COVID-19 protocols. At the same time, online classes will continue for students who have been denied permission to attend physical classes by their parents.
The State Education Center has issued guidelines with respect to the commencement of classes for young folks. As per reports, pupils of standard 2 will be taught only the syllabus of standard 1, and only one teacher will be assigned to take classes for both grades together.

In the first phase of unlocking of schools, classes were reopened for students of grades 11th and 12th from July 26 with a 50% capacity. In the schools which have a lower seating capacity, classes were organised in small groups once a week, after parents granted mandatory written permission.
The second phase of the unlock happened from September 1, which permitted students from 6th to 12th to attend regular classes at school with a 50% capacity. The decision of the third phase was taken on September 14 when the CM of Madhya Pradesh decided to reopen schools for classes 1 to 5, as well. Alongside, classes for some grades of hostel schools will be regulated with a 100% capacity.
Sanitization drives have been conducted in the premises and surrounding areas to enable cleanliness of the schools and classes. Moreover, the third phase of the COVID-19 Vaccination Maha Abhiyan is proceeding at a good speed with a target to at least partially inoculate all eligible citizens of the state by September 26.
