This year, the Postal Department has launched a thoughtful initiative that blends tradition with convenience for Raksha Bandhan—designer envelopes, especially suited for sending Rakhis through the post from Ahmedabad.
These colourful envelopes, available for just ₹10, can be purchased at several post offices across the city. Their unique design will help speed up the sorting process at postal facilities, increasing the chances of the Rakhis arriving on time, before the festival on August 19.
Special envelopes with India Post logo and a Raksha Bandhan-themed image
Postmaster General of the North Gujarat Region, Shri Krishna Kumar Yadav, stated that these exclusive Rakhi envelopes are being made available at key post offices in Ahmedabad, such as the Ahmedabad General Post Office (GPO), Navrangpura Head Post Office (HPO), and Revdi Bazar HPO.
In addition, these envelopes can be purchased at Head Post Offices and selected Sub Post Offices in districts like Gandhinagar, Mahesana, Aravalli, Sabarkantha, Banaskantha, and Patan.
These designer envelopes, sized at 11 cm by 22 cm, are adorned with the India Post logo and a Raksha Bandhan-themed image, making them both aesthetically pleasing and functional. Not only do these envelopes add a festive flair to the Rakhis being sent, but they are also designed to be waterproof, ensuring the safe delivery of Rakhis even during the monsoon season.

Shri Yadav highlighted the practical benefits of these envelopes, noting that their unique design will streamline the sorting process at postal facilities.
This means that Rakhis sent in these special envelopes are more likely to reach their destination on time, ensuring that siblings receive their Rakhis before the festival on the 19th of August.
