The inspiration behind the Cafe
Project Otenga derives its name from the Ou Tenga, also known as the elephant apple—a key ingredient in Assamese sour dishes called “tenga.” What makes Ou Tenga unique is how its petals intertwine and grow stronger instead of falling off, eventually forming the fruit. This exceptional characteristic serves as a metaphor for Project Otenga’s unique and multi-faceted approach.
The founders, hailing from the North East, envisioned creating a space where visitors could immerse themselves in the cuisine from North East and the philosophy of slow design. They also aimed to foster multidisciplinary collaboration, propagate mindfulness, and collective learning.

This self-service cafe is a haven for lovers of North Eastern cuisine.
