Auto-rickshaw & tempo rides get costlier in Lucknow!

Auto-Rickshaw Three Wheelers Association in Lucknow has increased the fare for traveling in auto-rickshaws and tempos in the city. As per the new rules, an additional charge of ₹1 will be levied per stop covered by the ride. Notably, the prices were increased for the last time in February 2014 and now, the latest decision has been taken in view of the rising rates of CNG and spare parts. While citizens can expect an inflated fare for all rides, the minimum charge has also been raised from ₹10 to ₹12.

Price hike to benefit the auto-rickshaw & tempo owners

Pankaj Dixit, the president of the association informed that the prices were increased by the State Transport Authority previously. Over the course of the past 7 years, CNG prices have spiraled up from ₹48 to ₹68 but the transport authorities did not revise the fare. Thus, the association conducted a meeting on Sunday and decided to increase the fare. Thereafter, the Divisional Transport Officer (Administration) was informed who forwarded the proposal to the State Transport Authority.

While the citizens will be affected by elevated prices, this intervention had become necessary for the benefit of the auto-rickshaw and tempo drivers. It is noteworthy that the accelerated rate of inflation is inducing effects on all sections of the economy.
