Over the recent times, Lucknow has become a major shooting site for many Bollywood directors and a lot of big budget films have been shot in the City of Nawabs including, Jolly LLB 2, Bullet Raaja, Ishaqzaade, Bala and so on. So making its way to the list of Bollywood biggies which have been filmed in Lucknow, the shoot for Satyameva Jayate 2 has commenced in the city. Wednesday onwards, Lucknow will be hosting the cast and crew of John Abraham and Divya Khosla Kumar starrer Satyameva Jayate 2 and the team will continue its operations till January 2021.
Satyameva Jayate 2 will hit the halls on May 12, 2021
Director Milap Zaveri, was quoted saying, “On the first day, we will shoot only with the lead pair, but subsequently, other actors like Harsh Chhaya, Gautami Kapoor, Shaad Randhawa, Anup Soni, and Sahil Vaid will join in.” He added, “We will be shooting across Lucknow, including at heritage structures like palaces and colleges. Some of the live locations will be completely sealed off, so crowd gazers cannot sneak in. Only our cast and crew will be present on the spot.”
The action scenes are slated be shot on the streets of Lucknow and the lead actor, John Abraham has been briefed about the locations, virtually. Producer Bhushan Kumar mentioned that the team “will create a safe shooting environment”, which will be at par with the issued SoPs. “It will be scary for the crew at live locations, but it is important to give our audience some entertainment during this pandemic,” he asserted. Before the coronavirus crisis took over, Satyameva Jayate 2 was supposed to be based in Mumbai.
Uttar Pradesh has an extremely relaxed and incentive-based policy when it comes to filming in the state and it is definitely a reason for filmmakers to pitch a tent here. Back in February 2018, the UP government introduced a major change in the state’s filming policies.
The shift happened when the government announced that any film being shot in UP using any “Indian Language” including Hindi, English and other regional languages, will receive a subsidy of ₹50 lakh. Further, according to the updated laws, any film shot in the state would also receive back the GST charged on the shooting and film distribution process. UP also has a ton of other subsidies and benefits which are aimed at attracting filmmakers and production houses.
Satyameva Jayate 2 will hit the halls on May 12, 2021 and reportedly, it will be bigger and better than the 2018 original.
