Several schools in Lucknow reopen today even as COVID surges

Despite the intensifying winter and COVID wave in Lucknow, several schools in the city restarted physical (offline) classes for students today. As per reports, many educational institutes in the district have cut short on the winter vacation, to make up for the loss of days caused due to prolonged pandemic-induced closure. According to a state order, the winter break was initially supposed to extend till January 15 for all classes up to standard 8. This now stands altered with kids returning to schools today.

2 fresh COVID cases & 3 recoveries reported in Lucknow on Monday

Amidst the rising scale of COVID in Uttar Pradesh, Lucknow has reported two fresh cases and three recoveries in the last 24 hours. A couple from the Gomti Nagar area had tested positive for coronavirus yesterday, taking Lucknow's active caseload to a total of 29 cases. Apart from Lucknow, Gautam Buddha Nagar, Ghaziabad, Saharanpur, Bareilly, Varanasi, Mathura, Deoria and Unnao have marked new cases on Monday, increasing the active caseload in UP to 155 cases.
