Gujarat University introduces Master’s degree courses in Indian Knowledge System
Gujarat University, recognizing the growing interest in the Indian Knowledge System (IKS), has collaborated with the Anaadi Foundation to introduce Master’s degree courses in the field. While the university has been offering short-term courses, the expansion into postgraduate studies reflects the field’s increasing popularity.
These Master’s programs will span Arts, Commerce, and Science fields, allowing graduates from various backgrounds to pursue specialized courses based on their interests. The move is expected to provide a deeper understanding of the Indian Knowledge System and its diverse aspects.
Launch of ‘Siddhatva Mission’ to support 10th and 12th board students
Recognizing the pivotal importance of right guidance before 10th and 12th board examinations, the Ahmedabad District Education Officer has initiated ‘Mission Siddhatva’. This mission aims to provide psychological and study-related assistance to students preparing for these examinations, whether from government or private institutions.
Under ‘Siddhatva Mission,’ students will benefit from valuable insights and guidance provided by expert teachers, helping them navigate the challenges of board exams with confidence.
Vintage kite collection exhibition at Riverfront
The vibrant kite festival is currently enchanting visitors at the Ahmedabad riverfront, featuring stalls showcasing a variety of kites and items from Gujarat. Kite enthusiasts from other states have also set up stalls, displaying a unique collection. This remarkable collection of over 300 vintage kites.
Notably, the collection includes a kite dating back to 1899, making it an impressive 124-year-old showcase. This vintage kite was curated by the late BP Srivastava hailing from Lucknow, Uttar Pradesh. Continuing his legacy, Srivastava’s children have preserved and displayed the kites, implementing special measures to protect them from moisture and termites.
Positive shift in Ahmedabad’s sex ratio
Thanks to the combined efforts of social organizations and the government’s ‘Beti Bachao’ campaign, Ahmedabad has witnessed a significant improvement in its sex ratio. In 2023, the city recorded a ratio of 898 girls to every thousand boys, a notable increase from the 2011 ratio of 850 girls per thousand boys.
In rural areas of Ahmedabad, the ratio is even higher, standing at 912 girls for every thousand boys. Despite this positive change, the city has faced challenges, with 3032 child deaths and 213 maternal deaths reported in the last three and a half years.
