Indore, the country’s cleanest city, is one of the six locations provided by states and union territories that got selected for the commencement of the Light House project. Under the proposed plan, houses would be constructed using the first-of-its-kind pre-built sandwich technology. For this, the city’s municipal corporation has already spotted over 4 hectares of land in the village of Kanadia Extension, inscribed within the municipal boundaries. The current scheme indicates that buildings consisting of a parking facility and eight subsequent floors shall house over 1000 1-BHK flats.

As per estimations, the total cost of the project would be more than 125 crores, while each residential unit would be built at a cost price of 12.5 lakhs. All the amenities of transport, electricity, water supply etc. would be connected to the new establishment.

While the Prime Minister would attend the event via video conferencing, reports suggest that the inauguration ceremony at Indore’s Gulmarg Campus on Friday will be graced by the presence of Chief Minister, Urban Development and Housing Minister, Minister of State for Urban Development and Housing and other dignitaries.

As indicated in the guidelines, the grant amount for construction is broken into various components. For each flat, ₹1.5 lakh and ₹4 lakh will be provided as Gol-AHP grant and Gol Technology Innovation Grant (TIG), respectively. A surplus amount of 1.0 lakhs will also be made available as the state government grant. Thus, out of the total ₹12.5 lakh, about ₹ 6.5 lakhs shall be borne by the government, reducing the sale cost to only ₹ 6 lakhs for the beneficiaries.

Indore Municipal Corporation has designed a website for encouraging online application for availing the benefit of the project. Additionally, IMC is also chalking out plans for marketing, advertisement and brand establishment of the project.
