On Tuesday, a team from the Kamla Nehru Zoo in Indore finally tracked down and captured the leopard cub that had gone missing from the zoo premises six days ago. The six-month-old animal had been found wandering in the Nepanagar forest, with injury on its hind legs and separated from its mother. It had been brought to the zoo in a caged vehicle on December 1, from which it escaped the very next day.
Extensive search bore results
Following the disappearance, the zoo and forest officials had launched an extensive search operation, in and around the district. Reportedly, local residents spotted the cub near the Forest Department’s office in Navratan Bagh and alerted the forest officials. The zoo team reacted promptly and reached the location in time, leading to a successful capture using a net. The animal is now being fed and given proper medical treatment at the zoo.
