Sabarmati Ashram set for a major redevelopment
Sabarmati Ashram, a century-old memorial commemorating Gandhi and his legacy, is poised for a major revamp. The PM is scheduled to unveil the master plan of this Rs 1200 crore project on March 12th. The ambitious redevelopment, expected to span two years, aims to expand the current 5-acre space to an expansive 55-acres, elevating it to an iconic Bapu memorial.
Preservation of existing structures will be coupled with the construction of new ones. The revamped Ashram will feature an education and engagement center, a souvenir shop, an orientation and interpretation center, along with spaces for workshops and seminars. This holistic approach aims to provide visitors and locals with an enriching experience.
Food Festival at Riverfront kicks off today
The Food Festival at the riverfront, organized by the AMC, begins today and will run for three days. Three distinct pavilions, namely Royal, Spiritual, and Wellness, have been set up for an immersive culinary experience. The Royal Pavilion offers lunch at Rs. 2400 per person and dinner at Rs. 3000.
With an entry fee of Rs. 50, the festival will be open from 12 noon to 10 pm, featuring live performances from 6 pm to 10 pm. A diverse array of 52 food stalls showcasing various cuisines awaits visitors in the regional food court, along with 18 luxurious food stalls in the Taste of Luxury section.
RTE admissions open from March 14 for academic year 2024-25
The admission process under the Right to Education (RTE) for the academic year 2024-25 will commence on March 14th and continue until March 26th. Parents can apply through an online application.
During the admission process, parents are required to upload vital documents such as proof of date of birth, residence, caste category, certificate from a competent authority, income tax return, and a self-declaration of non-taxable income if applicable. It is recommended to keep a printed copy of the online form for reference.
Hatkeshwar Bridge faces demolition, replacement with a four-lane structure
The Hatkeshwar Bridge in the Khokhra area is slated for demolition due to structural concerns and poor condition. Approval has been granted by the AMC for the construction of a new four-lane bridge, with a budget of Rs 51.70 crore. The replacement structure will be developed using the EPC basis, ensuring enhanced structural integrity.
