Ushering good news for Kanpur folks, 10 new air-conditioned deluxe buses will soon be added to the city’s fleet. Reportedly, it is expected that the latest vehicles will be functional from August and the total count of buses will be amplified to 40, at the inter-state Jhakarkatti Bus Stop after that. Further, reports state that the buses will be equipped with hydraulic gates and the driver will operate them through a centralised system.
A move to enhance services for regular commuters
It has been reported that the buses will have a list of special features. While the backside of the vehicle will have two emergency windows, a manual glass break system will assist in escape in case of fire. Besides, it is noteworthy that the seats can be adjusted based on the requirements of the passengers.
Given the increasing count of passengers, the count of AC buses is being increased to assure enhanced services for the commuters. As per reports, the administration has already approved the proposal and the new buses will be deployed in the Kanpur region soon.
Bus boxes to be set up across 63 spots in the city
In another innovative initiative, the authorities have decided to set up bus boxes across 63 locations in the city. This facility will help in solving traffic problems in the city, by providing specific spots to the buses for taking more passengers. Given the large number of buses that run on city roads daily, this new development will help in mitigating the possibilities of accidents.
Currently, the drivers halt their vehicles at any spot on the road while the Transport Directorate has already issued instructions against this. Thereby, the DCP Traffic has asked the Municipal Corporation officials to establish bus boxes. While bus stops were set up earlier, their usage withered away with time and now, bus boxes will be instituted at the same locations.
Equipped with seats, charging points & drinking water facilities
It has been reported that the bus boxes will help travelers to protect themselves against the sun and the rains. Additionally, seating facilities, mobile charging points and drinking water will also be available here. As per reports, bus boxes will be set up at 9 Number crossing, Clock Tower, Kidwai Nagar, Fazalganj, Gol Chauraha, Naubasta, Panki, Sachan Chauraha, Deep Talkies and other a lot of other places.
