Lucknow District Football League is all set to kickstart from 25th July 2021, at the La Martiniere’s ground. Being conducted by District Football Association of Lucknow, the tournament would witness nearly 50 clubs from the city competing against each other. The authorities have released an online form for the registrations and the entries are allowed till 18th July.
New format being deployed to spark interest amongst the players
After the registration process is complete, the fixture will be prepared at 4 PM on July 18, at the city’s Polo ground. Speaking to Knocksense, Organizing Secretary KN Singh informed that all the preparations have been completed for the Lucknow Football League. Additionally, he informed that a new format will be deployed to spark the interest of the players. Further, ID cards will be issued beforehand to prevent players from switching between clubs.

According to the organisers, more than 150 matches will be held between the teams before the final winner is adjudged. The tournament will be conducted in 5 phases and the ‘Preliminary’ round will initiate the proceedings. As per the stated rules, all participating clubs will be divided into 8 pools. While the club taking the first position will be directly given a spot in the final round, the ones at the bottom will stand eliminated from the league.
Other 24 teams will enter the ‘qualifying round’ wherein matches will be played in 6 pools. Once this round is concluded, the best and the second-best teams will qualify for the next round. Thereafter, the final round will be played across four pools and the two top teams from each pool shall participate in the Super League. Finally, the knockout round shall take place amongst the top 4 teams. At the end of it, the winner, first runner-up and second runner-up will be decided.
