The Uttar Pradesh Anti Terror Squad apprehended 3 more suspected terrorists on Wednesday, under the crack-down operation to prevent the anticipated attacks on the state and the capital city, Lucknow. It has been informed that the arrested individuals were involved in plans linked to terror attacks. Previously, the ATS had caught and detained 2 alleged Al Qaeda-linked terrorists from Kakori, located on the boundaries of Lucknow.
Suspects to be interrogated after the court procedures
As per the available information, Shakeel, aged 35, Mohd Mustaqeem, aged 44 and Mohd Moid, aged 29, have been arrested in the latest operation. Earlier, Maseeruddin and Minhaz Ansari were apprehended on Sunday and the new arrests have been made based on the information given by them. After the arrest, the ATS released a statement informing that the three accused individuals will be produced in court. Once the necessary procedures are completed, they will be investigated in jail.
Bombs, detonator & other explosives recovered on Sunday
On Sunday, the ATS nabbed the two individuals with a lot of destructive materials. As per ATS sources, two pressure-cooker bombs, a detonator, and 6 to 7 kilograms of explosives, were found at the place of their stay. Notably, the ATS was apprised about such activities in the state and the designated officials had started a related operation.
After a week of search interventions, the suspected terrorists were located and arrested. A group of officials headed by IG ATS, G.K. Goswami caught them at a house in Lucknow’s Kakori district. Soon after, citizens were asked to vacate the houses in that locality and a bomb diffusion team was called to assess the situation.
